Antique Lacquered Gilt Alloy Deity - Lakshmi

The buxom figure holding a raised lotus in her right hand and a bead in her lowered left.

Her hair in a chignon to the top and rear and wearing large hooped earrings and a beaded necklace.

A ribboned belt about her waist supporting a pleated garment.

All standing on a lotus pedestal with a square base.

Pigment traces all-over, mostly in crevices
Wear to lacquered gilding
Base slightly uneven

Measures 2 5/8" ( 6.6 cm )

The lotus and the female nature of this figure suggests this to be Lakshmi - Hindu goddess of wealth, good fortune and beauty.

As Vishnu's wife she is also considered goddess of material and spiritual prosperity, light, wisdom, fertility, generosity and courage.

She's also the embodiment of grace and charm.

Lakshmi is said to bring good luck and is believed to protect her devotees from all kinds of misery and money-related sorrows.
